IMMEDIATE NEED – EXPERIENCED LEAD FORMAN/SUPERINTENDENT FOR NEW FIBER TELECOM PROJECT IN MICHIGAN!  PERMANENT FULL TIME POSITIONS WITH GREAT PAY AND BENEFITS PACKAGE!!!

  • The General Forman/Superintendent is responsible for the direct supervision of Foremen or nominated job managers of the projects assigned and oversees all construction aspects of the project, use and maintenance of equipment, and effective use of assigned labor. This position is generally assigned to a specific segment(s) of a construction project/program and has direct task accountability.  The Superintendent supervises job assigned Foremen to ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with job specifications and regulations.
  • The General Forman/Superintendent fully understands major business components and implications relating to managing construction activities and ensures bid deadlines, production goals and customer requirements are met.
  • The General Forman/Superintendent also ensures compliance with the established Project Management Methodology and upholds safety and quality management protocols, including the investigation of incidents and claims as required.

WHAT DOES THIS JOB ENTAIL?

Responsibilities:

  • The General Forman/Superintendent manages Foremen responsible for assigned construction activities and typically supervises 2-5 General Foremen, while contributing to the continuous improvement of methodology, tools and approaches using fundamentals Project Management practices.
  • Additionally, the General Forman/Superintendent facilitates coordination with other departments (Equipment, Procurement, Scheduling, etc.) and interfaces with local external stakeholders to ensure cooperation, communicating with influence to client groups and team members.

•  This role ensures that team goals, roles, protocols, and business relationships are consistent with high-performance requirements and congruent with the company’s strategy.  The ideal candidate will lead by example in an environment that fosters trust and candor, will maintain personal accountability, and communicate assertively and constructively.

IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of construction and utility industry practices, processes, and standards
  • Experience with aerial and outside plant telecommunication construction
  • Advanced technical knowledge within assigned LOB or construction specialty
  • Exposure to industry relevant software
  • Moderately complex problem-solving skills
  • Operate construction equipment
  • Operate hydraulic aerial lifts and ladders mounted to trucks
  • Can hook and climb poles successfully, assemble stock I.E. snowshoes
  • Can build strand, load a lasher, lash cable and fiber and be able to do all basic pole transfers
  • Install poles and place wires or cables
  • Place aerial fiber cable
  • String and maintain wire (Pulling, Fiber Splicing, Lashing, Stranding )
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair overhead fiber lines
  • Understanding of separation and clearance regulations
  • Utilize standard telecommunications tools
  • Access various installation points
  • Access construction points as required
  • Read and interpret engineering plans
  • Keep a detailed record of work activity

Minimum Educational Background:

Specialized training in aerial construction or equivalent work experience

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience:

10+ years of experience as aerial Forman
